Book of the Month

The Politically Incorrect Guide to Socialism by Kevin D. Williamson

Stalin’s gulag, impoverished North Korea, collapsing Cuba...it’s hard to name a dogma that has failed as spectacularly as socialism. And yet leaders around the world continue to subject millions of people to this dysfunctional, violence-prone ideology.

In The Politically Incorrect Guide™ to Socialism, Kevin Williamson reveals the fatal flaw of socialism—that efficient, complex economies simply can’t be centrally planned. But even in America, that hasn’t stopped politicians and bureaucrats from planning, to various extents, the most vital sectors of our economy: public education, energy, and the most arrogant central–planning effort of them all, Obama’s healthcare plan.

In this provocative book, Williamson unfolds the grim history of socialism, showing how the ideology has spawned crushing poverty, devastating famines, and horrific wars. Lumbering from one crisis to the next, leaving a trail of economic devastation and environmental catastrophe, socialism has wreaked more havoc, caused more deaths, and impoverished more people than any other ideology in history—especially when you include the victims of fascism, which Williamson notes is simply a variant of socialism.

If you thought socialism went into the dustbin of history with the collapse of the Soviet Union, think again. Socialism is alive and kicking, and it’s already spread further than you know. Available on Amazon

Wealth: The new national resource

I'm just glad I could be here to watch the day the left (via Michael Moore) officially went off the rails. Apparently, in their new utopia "wealth" belongs to everyone, the new national resource if you will.

Wow! why did it take us so long to think of that, I mean Russia had that idea waaaaay back in 1917 -- maybe American's really are slackers.

Crap! we're already Socialists

Via Hot Air As John Merline points out, the government actually spends more time and resources cutting checks than anything else it does.

The White House budget’s Historical Tables
volume shows that direct payments to individuals have increased from 2.4% at the end of World War II to 66.2% in 2010, including grants.

And whose wealth gets redistributed for the payments? Merline also sees a decades-long trend there:

In fact, according to the IRS, which collects such data, the share of income taxes paid by the richest 1 percent almost equals the share of income taxes paid by the bottom 95 percent. Today, roughly a third of those who file a tax return don’t pay any federal income tax at all, or get more in refundable tax credits than they pay in taxes. (In 1985, only 18 percent fell into this camp, according to the Tax Foundation.)

Some of the sharp increase in the last three years can be attributed to Baby Boomer retirement, and others to the influx of funds to emergency funding for unemployment. Clearly, though, this is an unsustainable rise — and a dramatic change in the redistributive efforts of the federal government. We don’t need more soak-the-rich policies; we need to start containing individual payment programs, and we need to do it.

Rich people are crybabies...

Thank goodness to the government for all this free enlightenment ... I seriously had no idea there might be more to life than making money. And yeah, rich people, how can you be proud of being rich knowing so many kids are on food stamps ... because if you would only pay more taxes, those same kids would, ....um, just be on more food stamps.

Seriously all this class warfare is sooo Russia c. 1917. I don't hate the rich, I want to be the rich. And can we honestly feel good about having ANYONE pay 35% of their income on taxes? Just to put it in perspective, that's $350 on every one thousand dollars earned. WTF?

MSNBC anchor proudly admits he's a Socialist

Is this for real, do people really not understand what it would be like to actually "take away the guns"? Dude, that hen house might very well be utopia, but somebody's gotta keep the fox out.

It looked like he was going to cry. His long awaited dreams of wealth redistribution and failed soviet experiments were swept away during one long painful November night.

Via Pravda - America says "NO" to Socialism

Americans who voted for Obama but never questioned his allegiance wised up and voted out his cronies November 2nd. The Republicans stormed into the House of Representatives and kicked out "Mad Woman Pelosi" as Speaker of the House. The Republicans gained more seats in the Senate and also more Republican Governors won across the country. Democrats barely held on to the Senate majority but the Republican House victory means Obama's socialist party train has stopped.

Even Obama's old Senate seat in Illinois was lost to Republican Mark Kirk. That's like Lucifer being replaced by St Michael in Hell and leading the devils to good. It just does not happen but it did. The same state that voted for Obama and the Democrats voted for a Republican. Imagine what Obama is saying now, "Et tu, Brute?"

Minorities won big for the Republicans. So much for the Democratic lie that Republicans are racists. Read more

So BUSTED!

During post election phone call to MoveOn, Obama signals that lefty agenda is full speed ahead....

Thought of the day: A wise man learns from the mistakes of others, a fool learns from his own. But in his defense, maybe Obama wasn't exactly around for the Carter era.

Obamacare: A pig without lipstick.

ObamaCare bending the cost curve upward 47% in CT

"The state of Connecticut just approved a request by its largest private insurer for premium hikes of up to 47%. The Hartford Courant reports that the increases come as a direct result of the mandates included in ObamaCare."

So, it looks like Obamacare is doing exactly what was intended. Providing affordable coverage for everyone.

Wait, no, not that.

Causing everyone to drop their private insurance because they can no longer afford it, then forcing them to run to the government to beg for cheaper and/or free coverage.

Wow, those Socialists sure are sneaky.
